Review: NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

Hi Loves!! Today I am going to do a review on the “new” NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. I’m sure you guys have heard about this foundation, it’s everywhere!!! Everyone has been talking about it so I thought I would give you my thoughts.

This is what they say about the product on NARS’s website:

Full, natural-looking coverage with unexpectedly weightless, 16-hour wear. Highly pigmented and perfectly balanced, this breakthrough formula builds and blends effortlessly with just one drop—the result of exclusive innovation uniquely designed to deliver long-wearing full coverage, weightlessly. Shake, pump and blend in sections for complete coverage that’s completely natural looking.

First thing: packaging is beautiful, nice frosted glass, matte black top and a PUMP!!! But the glass is not the best for travel. Second thing I appreciate about the product is the color selection. There are 20 different colors to choose from, light to dark, warm to cool tones. The shade I picked up was Macao. Just for reference I am NC50 in M.A.C. Studio Fix Fluid and 177 in MUFE HD Foundation.

This is what my face looks like before I applied the foundation. I wanted to get a good idea of how oily I would get so I did not add my mattifying primer and just used my POREfessional to combat the pores on my nose. I also did not correct any of my hyper-pigmentation because I wanted to see the coverage. The middle of my face has a more yellow undertone while the perimeter is more red.

To apply the foundation I did follow the instructions which suggest applying with your fingers. The product does dry quickly so I worked in sections when applying. I used two pumps which gave me pretty good coverage and then I added a last pump to certain spots that I felt needed a bit more coverage. I then blended everything together with a damp beauty blender. As you can see from the above picture, the finish of the foundation is matte. The color looks a bit yellow but its looks better once my full face is done.

It looked beautiful with the complete highlighting, contour, and setting powder. I finished my face around 5 pm and I had plans to go to dinner and a club that night to celebrate a friend’s birthday (Hey Paige!). The only issue I had with the foundation at this point was the coverage. It did not cover all of my hyper-pigmentation. So I would correct those areas before I apply this foundation next time. But I loved the matte finish, and I also liked that the foundation did not feel heavy on the face at all. My makeup had a glow without being oily/dewy.

After dinner and a lot of dancing lol I got back home at 3am and took the picture below. I had not touched up my makeup all night and I was very surprised at how my face looked. I did get oily, but I expected that because I have oily skin but I did not look like a grease ball after 10 hours! I also liked that the foundation still gave me medium coverage, I can tell it did not rub off or smear away. I believe all I had to do for this foundation to look flawless 10 hours later is touch up my face with some powder.

All in all I like the foundation. A little bit goes a long way. I believe it offers great coverage but I would not suggest building it up because it will look caked on. Applying it with my fingers worked best. With a brush I believe it came out streaky and not enough product got on my face because it dries fast. If you have dry skin this may cling to dry patches so moisturize your face before you use it. I think this foundation is a great summer foundation because it’s so lightweight. NARS All Day Luminous is on the pricey side, and I don’t think it’s a must have in your collection. However the color selection, the finish, and the long wearing make it justifiable to purchase. I would suggest getting color matched at Sephora and take a sample to try it out for yourself. If you have an questions leave them below 🙂 Muah!

I wrote this original post back in March. Since then I have been using this foundation like CRAZY!!! I love it!!! When I added my No. 7 Beautifully Matte base I fell in LOVE!!! I still apply with my fingers but I pump on my finger tips then rub it in like lotion. I still use three pumps, one for each side of my face and one for the forehead and areas I missed. Trust me, this will give you a beautiful coverage!!! In an upcoming post you will see how beautiful it is! I recommend this for sure! Bye loves!
