Hi Loves!!!! First things first….I’ve missed you! I took a week off from work (and blogging lol ) to relax/celebrate my 25th Birthday (#RaiDay was everything!). Of course I did some makeup shopping for my birthday (Thanks Ma, Jas, Antonae and Lamont!) so expect a birthday haul of all the goodies I got later this week, just waiting for a few online purchases to arrive. I also got some umbrella lights (Thank you baby!) so I’m excited to play around with those to improve my pictures! OK now that all of that is out the way, lets get into this FOTD were I used ALL drug store products!
As always the first thing I did was my eyebrows. I used the NYX Micro Brow Pencil for the first time and I loved it! I know in my area (Detroit, MI) they sale NYX products at Ulta, Target, CVS, and also at local beauty supply stores. Next I did foundation and used the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless….hands down my FAVORITE drug store foundation! If you would like a review on this just let me know! For me this foundation applies best with a round top foundation brush. I like the Real Techniques expect face brush in particular. I do not prime my face with this foundation because I don’t get super oily just slightly dewy, which I like in the summer months.
For the eyes I used all NYX eyeshadows. Their shadows are SUPER pigmented and don’t come off chalky, love them! Under the brow bone I used Blame it on Midnight and in the crease I used Dance the Tides. For the lid I used a synthetic brush to apply Fireball and that worked well but using my fingers gave me better color payoff. After I added Fireball I went back in with my crease brush without adding more product to make sure everything was blended.
Next I highlighted my face with the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal and blended out with a concealer brush. If you have not tried this concealer yet PLEASE get some! The coverage is great, it blends easy, and it’s creamy. The color range is amazing so everyone should be able to find their shade. I bought mine from ikatehouse for $2.49. I have also seen them at local beauty supply stores.
To contour my face I used Black Radiance Pressed Powder. This is actually my favorite powder to use for my nose contour because It blends out very well and has a bit of a red undertone. When contouring my nose I make sure to take the powder all the way up into my crease so the two lines don’t just stop at the top of my nose.
After I add blush/highlight I move back to the lower lash line. I added NYX Dance the Tides eyeshadow to my lower lash line. I then added the NYX wonder pencil to my waterline to open up my eyes a bit more. I added some Fireball eyeshadow to the inner tear duck and then finished with Mascara.
After adding lipstick and gloss this look was complete! I really enjoyed doing this look because I think it’s important to show you can get beautiful makeup with drug store products. Drug store brands are really stepping up their color selection to include products for WOC so don’t be afraid to try some new things. Their products work great for sometimes half the price!
