Valentine’s Day Series: Purple Drama

Hi Loves!! I’ve missed you a bunch! Since its February and I’ve been super MIA because of work (Sorry!) I wanted to do a Valentine’s Day Series! It will be three different looks all inspired by the day of love ❤ I thought it would be best to start out with a bang! First up is a dark purple smokey eye. This is a perfect night time look! It’s a bit dramatic but….I tried to keep the focus all on the eyes! Time to get into the look.

First thing….2016 has NOT been good to my skin! I have been trying to combat all these break outs so please excuse my bare face. As you may know I did my brows first. Since I am doing such a dark eye I opted to do a lighter brow. I used NYX Micro Brow Pencil in chocolate. I cleaned up the top of the brow with MAC Studio Fix Concealer in NC50 and the bottom with NW40 for a highlight.

Next I usually do my face makeup, however I’m working with dark colors and didn’t want fallout on my foundation so I moved to the eyes. I first applied an eye primer, then followed with an eye base. I normally skip the eye base, but I am using MAC’s Beauty Marked for my lid color and it’s a black eye shadow with purple glitter. The eye shadow alone has great color payoff but using the black base allows the glitter to pop. I blend in the base with my fingers then apply Beauty Marked. Make sure to pack this color on the lid using tapping motions. This ensures the best color payoff. Next to blend out the harsh lines I use MAC’s Palace Pedigreed which is a nice matte plum color. I place most of the color on the outer corner and then sweep the color inward toward my inner corner. Use a smaller blending brush so the color doesn’t go too high towards the brow. To warm up the look and get a smoother transition I used MAC’s Brown Script and blend this right along the edge of the plum color. To finish the eyes I add liner and mascara.

For the face I decided to go very simple. After priming my face I used my damp Beauty Blender to apply my foundation and highlight. Once I blended this out I set my highlight with Ben Nye Topaz powder. I bronzed my face with MAC’s Refined Golden and set the rest of my face with Mineralized Skinfinish.  I used MAC’s Raizin and Ambering Rose for blush. To highlight I used Becca’s Champagne Pop. I added this highlight to my cheek bones, arch of my brow, tip of my nose and the inner tear ducts.

To finish the eyes I added black eyeliner to my water line and then placed Palace Pedigreed on the lash line. A small smudge eyeshadow brush is perfect to place color on the lash line.

For lips I wanted to go simple so I lined them with Cork and for lipstick went with Velvet Teddy and added C-thru gloss on top. I liked the nude lip but…I wanted a little something extra so on top of all that I added L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint in Daring.

That the look guys! I hope you like it! I know it’s bold but I think this is a great twist on your average smokey eye! If you have any questions leave them below! The next Valentines’ Day look will be up soon xoxo
